Gary Dean Bluhm

GARY DEAN BLUHM, age 84 of Waseca, died at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

Gary was born in Waldorf on January 6, 1939, to parents Martin John and Dorothy Helen (Young) Bluhm.  He attended school in Waldorf before beginning to work the family farm.  On September 30, 1967, Gary was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joyce Born, at Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca.  After working on the farm during his youth, Gary went on to build boats at Herter’s Inc in Waseca and then finished his working years with a 25 year career at Brown Printing in Waseca.  He was a past member of the Waseca American Legion, and he enjoyed playing bingo in Waseca and Waterville, spending an evening at the casino, and attending truck and tractor shows.  He had a wealth of knowledge about tractors and farming equipment, and he cherished the opportunity to go out to eat with family – especially the grandkids.

Gary is survived by his son, Steve Bluhm and his girlfriend Jennifer Reese both of St. Peter; two siblings, Claudette (Brian) Swenson of Janesville, and Karen (Roger) Vangness of Rochester; and two beloved grandchildren, Brittney Bluhm and Nathan (Ashley) Bluhm both of Faribault.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife; and five siblings.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca at a later date.
