Gale H. Johnson, 74 year old resident of Janesville, died early Thursday morning, June 14, 2018 at his home.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville with a prayer service beginning at 8:00 PM. A private family graveside service will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred.
Gale H. Johnson was born to Elmer and Olive (Marvin) Johnson in Madison, SD, on December 24, 1943. He attended Garfield High School in Madison. Gale enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Korea. After receiving an honorable discharge, he married Bonnie Brech and together they moved to Minneapolis. While in Minneapolis, Gale joined the Air Force Reserves for several years before he accepted a position working for the Department of Defense. After their retirement, Gale and Bonnie settled in Janesville.
Gale is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Bonnie; sons: Mark (Chris) Johnson of Farmington, and Steve (Sarah) Johnson of Janesville; daughter, Laura Porter of Colorado; grandchildren: Sheridan and Cameryn Porter of Colorado, Brittnae Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Jacob Johnson (Danielle Wolff) of Elysian, Madison (Nathan) Colestock of Dubuque, IA, Kathryn Jewison of Janesville, Max and Aiden Johnson of Farmington, Kennedy Jewison of Janesville, Gabe Everson of Eagan, Alex Wachsmuth of Burnsville; one sister, Lorna (Frank) Caduff, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon.
