GAEL “BUTCH” ROBERT BARTELT, age 83, of Waseca died on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Richland.
Born on October 1, 1939, in Waseca, he was the son of Arthur and Florence (Krause) Bartelt. He attended Waseca Public School, graduating with the class of 1958. During his high school years, he began working for the local Ford dealership in Waseca and later in Mankato, which he continues for the next 23 years. After his time with the Ford Dealership, Butch worked for a few years at Smiths Mill Implement before beginning a 23 years career at Brown Printing, retiring in 2004. While working in Mankato, Butch met Kay Jennings and they were united in marriage on February 1, 1964, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Together they had three children and were later divorced. On June 18, 1983, Butch was united in marriage to Pamela Broughton at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca and together they had one child.
Butch loved children! In his younger years he enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews and later years he cherished spending time with his grandchildren. In his retirement, Butch stayed busy mowing the lawn at Waseca Lakeside Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening and taking rides in his mustang convertible, especially around Clear Lake. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Pam of Waseca; children: Patty (Greg) Albers of Mankato, and Matthew (April) Bartelt of Waseca; grandchildren: Emily Albers, Hannah (Evan) Williams, Landan Madsen, Jaxon Bartelt and Willow Bartelt; and one great grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Gene Roemhildt of St. Peter, Dennis Broughton of Wisconsin, and Terry Ziemke of Waseca; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; daughter in infancy, Jodi; son, Timothy; brother, Hollie (Margaret) Bartelt; sister, Bonnie Roemhildt; sister-in-law, Julie Ziemke; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evie and Warren Wetzel.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
