Francis E. Horejsi October 29, 1929 - July 15, 2014
Francis E. Horejsi, age 84, of Faribault, MN, passed away July 15, 2014, at the St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.
Francis Edward was born on October 29, 1929 in Webster, MN to Frank M. and Mary (Tuma) Horejsi. He was raised and attended school in Webster. Francis then attended mechanical school in Fargo, ND, and worked in Forman, ND before moving to Owatonna where he met Alice Boshart. They were married on June 9, 1953, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault and later moved to Faribault in 1966. Francis then started his lengthy career and agency with Farmers Insurance until his retirement in 1995. He had a great passion for woodworking and even produced Curio cabinets for his grandchildren. Francis enjoyed fishing and time spent at their cabin at French lake, gardening, and bird watching. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus, and the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his loving wife, Alice of Faribault; his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Wayne (Carmen) Horejsi of Faribault and their daughter, Katie (Todd) Martin and their son, Cohen, Sharon (Ron) Velzke of Faribault and children, Bob (Leyna) Velzke and their children, Evie & Gabe, Krysta (Tyler) Meiners and their daughter, Ashtyn, Jerry (Debra) Horejsi of Dodge Center and children, Ben (Allie) Horejsi and their children, Neven & Mathea, and Emily Horejsi, Bernie (Debra) Horejsi of Faribault and children, Kiersten (Jesse) Lawson and Josh Horejsi and his son, Kain, and Debra (Scott) Schweisthal of Faribault and their children, Jake (Nicole) Schweisthal and children, Evan
& Jayden, Jed Schweisthal and daughter, Avery, and Jay Schweisthal; his sister, Marian Topic of New Prague; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Roseann Sticha; and two brothers, Leonard and Charles Horejsi.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the choice of the donor in memory of Francis.
