Frances Mae LaCanne May 2, 1924 - January 5, 2013

Frances M. LaCanne, age 88, of Morristown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 05, 2013 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault following a brief illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church (139 Mercy Dr.) in Faribault. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault and on Wednesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Faribault Area Hospice or to the donor''s choice in memory of Frances

Frances Mae Dienst, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Kitzman) Dienst, was born on May 2, 1924 in Faribault. She attended the Roberds Lake Country School and on October 4, 1941, was united in marriage to Raymond LaCanne Sr. at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. They spent many years together enjoying the good times from dancing at Jewitt''s Point on Cannon Lake to raising seven children. In 1954, Raymond and Frances opened the LaCanne''s Resort on Cedar Lake, later selling it after many fun years of operation in 1975. Raymond later died on February 21, 1990.

After Raymond''s death, Frances found many new hobbies in life. She enjoyed playing many games of bingo, taking trips to Diamond Jo''s Casino, garage saling, mowing and raking her yard, gardening and being in the Morristown Dam Days Parade. Frances'' faith was very important to her. Even when her eyesight began to fail she would listen to the rosary on the radio on a daily basis. She was a woman of strength and truly loved spending time with her family.

Frances is survived by her children both living and deceased, David (special friend, Pam Miller) LaCanne of Morristown, Theresa (Joe) Velishek of Faribault, Bernie LaCanne of Medford, Margie (Jim) Goodwin of Morristown, Ray Jr. "Butch" (Janelle) LaCanne of Morristown, Patty (Delmar) Cramer of Kilkenny and Sharon (Jerry) Voegele of Morristown; by 19 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, daughter Theresa Velishek in 1997, granddaughter, Jackie Melchert in 2009 and by her two daughters in law, Margaret LaCanne and Lynda LaCanne.
