KENNETH B. FOELS , age 87 of Waseca died on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Colony Court Memory Care and Care Suites in Waseca.
Born on July 19, 1925 in New Richland Township, Waseca County, Minnesota he was the son of Walter and Alpha (Roesler) Foels. He attended rural Waseca County School District #85 before graduating from New Richland High School in 1942. Kenneth served in the US Navy from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Arlene Krause on October 7, 1950 at the EUB Church in Waseca. Together they lived in Freeborn County where they rented two farms before moving to their farm in Woodville Township, Waseca County in 1953. In addition to farming for over 50 years, Kenneth was also a skilled carpenter. He did carpentry work for O & E Roesler Construction Co. and later for David Peterson Construction. He started his own construction company with Andy VonRuden which he continued to operate until 1995.  He was a gifted craftsman and builder and a bountiful gardener. Kenneth was a faithful follower of Christ and served in various capacities at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Arlene of Waseca; three daughters, Patricia Miller of Waseca, Sandra (Glen) Prechel of Waseca, and Jane (Thomas) Rice of Maple Grove; seven grandchildren, Katie Miller, Kyle Miller, Jill (Chad) Wedan, Karen (Matthew) Johnston, Andrew (Belinda) Rice, Jenna (Kevin) Rengo, and Mark Rice; and four great grandchildren, Isaiah, Naomi, Hannah, and Elliana Wedan. He is also survived by one brother, Gordon (Lois) Foels of Waseca; one sister, Betty Kormann of New Brighton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Paul Miller; and sister, Valera Born.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 4-7 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Jon Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.Â
