Florence Lindberg September 30, 1922 - April 15, 2011
Florence E. Lindberg, age 88, of Faribault, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, April 15, 2011 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault. Private family services will be held. Interment will be held at the Evangelical Free Church Cemetery in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault. Florence Eleanore Thompson, the daughter of John and Betsy (Finstrom) Thompson, was born on September 30, 1922 in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. She attended the Kerkhoven High School and graduated with the class of 1941. Following graduation, Florence worked as a telephone operator and bookkeeper at the Farmers Elevator in Kerkhoven. On May 13, 1952, she was united in marriage to Wallace Lindberg and they had two children together. They purchased the Lindberg Rest Home on September 1, 1959. Following their divorce in 1966, Florence continued to operate the rest home until her retirement on December 31, 1999 when she decided to move to Faribault to be closer to her children and grandchildren. During her retirement, Florence continued to serve people by initiating the development of a congregate meals program and organizing activities at Robinwood Manor in Faribault. She enjoyed playing piano in her free time and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her two children, Larry (Eileen) Lindberg of Blaine and Shirley (Jan) Luikens of Faribault; her grandchildren Shawn Lindberg, Troy Lindberg, Angela Lindberg, Kelsey Lindberg, Nicholas Lindberg, Andrew Luikens and Paul Luikens. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.
