Fae Delaine Whissemore

FAE DELAINE WHISSEMORE, age 70, of Waseca passed away suddenly on December 7, 2023.

Born on February 3, 1953, in Long Prairie, Minn., Fae was the youngest daughter of Louis and Rosalie (Doese) Sadlemyer. She grew up on a dairy farm and attended the country schoolhouse in Gutches Grove. After graduating from Long Prairie High School, Fae moved to the Twin Cities.

It was on a trip to Lutsen with her sister, Susan, that Fae met Grant. The two were married on July 29, 1972, and moved to Owatonna for a short time until they purchased a home in Waseca. Fae worked briefly at E.F. Johnson Company before starting a home daycare so she could be at home to raise her two daughters. On January 3, 1989, Fae started working for Waseca Public Schools as a paraprofessional. Fae touched the lives of so many children in Waseca. Countless times former students and daycare kids would approach her in town to share memories. In June of 2018, Fae retired from the school district.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and doting on her two cats. She would never miss an episode of Days of Our Lives. She loved it when her daughters would visit and enjoyed watching her two grandsons grow up.

Fae is survived by her husband of 51 years, Grant Whissemore of Waseca; daughters: Tabitha Whissemore of Silver Spring, Md., and Stacey (Adam) Larson of Cottage Grove, Minn.; grandsons: Alec and Sam Larson also of Cottage Grove; sister, LuRae Christensen of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and brother, Rick (Carol) Sadlemyer of Long Prairie, Minn; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Susan Colby.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Sunday and continue until the time of the service at church.
