EVELYN ALMA DELASKE, age 101, of Waterville, died on March 8, 2022, at Carriage House Senior Living in Le Center.
Born on October 9, 1920, in Waseca to Earl and Sophia (Zerke) Studer. She grew up in the Waterville area and attended country school thru 8th grade. On July 9, 1938, Evelyn was united in marriage to Leo Delaske at St. John Lutheran Church in Kilkenny. Together they lived at various places in the Cordova and Kilkenny area where they worked for farmers as Evelyn did most of the cooking for the families. In 1952, Evelyn and Leo moved to Waterville. Evelyn worked at Backman’s Produce, Faribault Foods and lastly at Brown Printing before retiring in 1983. Evelyn and Leo shared 70 years of marriage before Leo passed way on January 12, 2009.
Evelyn was a wonderful housekeeper where she would often be found cooking, canning, and cleaning. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music, playing cards and bingo. Evelyn loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas and her trip to Hawaii. She will be remembered for her spunk that she shared with her children and grandchildren. Evelyn was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Robert (Jacqueline) Delaske, Dennis Sr. (Nancy) Delaske, Linda (Don) Fessel, Marilyn (Stan) Grubish, Susan (Fred) Tolzman, and Keith Delaske all of Waterville; daughter-in-law, Janice Delaske of Waseca; 24 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles; grandchildren: Sheri Delaske and Brandon Fessel; great grandson, Derrick Evans; great-great grandsons: Anthony Zimprich and Ethan Delaske; siblings: Ralph, Bob, Jim, Edith, Marjorie, Irene, and Helen.
Funeral service will be 10:30 AM on Friday, March 11, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville. Interment will be in Sabre Lake Cemetery in rural Kilkenny. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
