Enes Robertshaw August 17, 1916 - March 21, 2012
A memorial service for Enes is planned for Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault, MN. Memorials may be sent to the Dr. Charles F. Robertshaw Memorial Fund at Bethlehem Academy in Faribault, MN. Enes was born Enesa Catherine Marinucci in Hibbing, MN to Emil and Caesarina (Pace) Marinucci on August 17, 1916, and was the fourth of their five children. She graduated from Hibbing High School in 1934 and from the University of Minnesota in 1939, with degrees in Dietetics and Home Economics. While attending the U of M, Enes met Charles Fyshure Robertshaw, a U of M dental student and recent transfer from the College of Notre Dame. The two fell in love and were married in 1939 in St. Paul, MN, where Enes worked as a Registered Dietician at Bethesda Hospital. The following year, Enes gave birth to the couple''s first of five daughters, Sarah Joanne. The young family soon moved to Chokio, MN, where Charles set up his first dental practice. Daughter number two, Patricia Ann, was born there in 1943. Charles entered the Army during WWII, prompting the family''s second move to Newark, NJ, to be close to Captain Robertshaw''s military post. Following the war, Enes and Charles settled in Faribault, MN, where Charles opened a new dental practice. Daughters three and four, twins Carol Mary and Linda Katheryn, soon followed in 1946. Four years later, Enes gave birth to daughter number five, Annette Marie, completing the happy brood. Enes stayed home to raise the girls until she was recruited into the teaching profession in 1964 as a substitute Home Economics teacher at Bethlehem Academy. Following that she taught life skills to learning impaired students at the Faribault Vocational Technical Institute. In 1966 Enes renewed her dietetics license at Abbot Northwestern Hospital and was hired by Faribault State Hospital, where she served as Clinical Dietician until her retirement in 1981. Enes enjoyed the outdoors, instilling a love of camping in her five girls, as their Girl Scout leader and on their many family trips up north and out west. She wore with pride the nickname, "Slugger," and played ball with her daughters up til the age of 91. She especially delighted in her great grandchildren, even up to her last days. She also loved the arts, and was active in Faribault Civic Music and, as an artist, in the Faribault Art Guild. She was a member of the Faribault Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), as well as the American Dietetics Association.
