ELIZABETH ANN “BETTY” (KUBAT) WOBSCHALL, age 97, of Waseca, died Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Whispering Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation in Janesville.
Born February 16, 1926, in Owatonna, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Miller) Kubat. She graduated from Owatonna High School, Class of 1944. Following high school in 1944, she moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the Department of the Navy during the end of World War II. In 1947 she moved back to Waseca where she would go on to meet Lyle Wobschall at a dance and later marry in South Dakota in 1948. Lyle preceded her in death in 1971. Throughout the early years of their marriage, Betty would stay at home taking care of her home and family. In the later years of their marriage, she began working at E.F Johnson Manufacturing in Waseca and would work there until her retirement in her 70’s.
Betty loved gardening flowers and vegetables. For many years she canned the vegetables from her garden to have them throughout the winter season. She loved flowers, especially roses and African Violets. From a very young age she played the accordion and loved playing music with her family. She loved to dance and attending old-fashioned dances was something she greatly enjoyed. She loved flying in small pontoon airplanes to different lakes to fish with her family; she loved travelling to different places, playing cards and board games, jigsaw puzzles, watching cardinals and other types of birds at her bird feeder, shopping, and playing Bingo during her time at Whispering Creek. Betty was a very kind, giving, good sense of humor person. She loved being able to make people laugh. She was a member of the Waseca VFW Post 1642 Ladies Auxiliary and was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Larry) Tschaekofske of Stillwater. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents; infant son Daniel; siblings, Agnes Stancl, Bill Kubat, George Kubat, and Ray Kubat.
