Eleanor O''Connor was born on June 19, 1919 in St. John New Brunswick, Canada to Clare Daley Nugent and Dr. John R. Nugent. She attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and worked in St. John, prior to accepting an executive secretarial position as a Canadian National working for the US Government during the Korean War. The position she accepted was in Goose Bay, Labrador, where she met the love of her life'' and future husband, Harold O''Connor, then a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force stationed in Goose Bay on active duty.

When his tour in Labrador ended, Harry'' and Eleanor were married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After the birth of their first daughter Clare, the couple returned to the Twin Cities, where Harry completed his degree at St. Thomas and Harry and Eleanor almost'' completed their family, with the addition of daughters Kathy and Shaune.

In 1956, Harry accepted a teaching position at Shattuck School and moved his young family onto the Shattuck School campus in Faribault, Minnesota. The arrival of their daughter Kerry was soon to follow. Over the course of Harry''s thirty-two year teaching career at Shattuck, Eleanor regularly acted as hostess to alumni, parents and students alike and was actively involved in many school events. Off campus'' she was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter''s troops, raised her family and pursued numerous creative and artistic endeavors. Eleanor was a talented designer and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, refinishing and upholstering furniture and decorating. Her keen and contemporary sense of style was evident in every aspect of her life.

Eleanor, her husband and family traveled extensively. She enjoyed camping, skiing, swimming and many outdoor sports, but most of all, Eleanor loved to danceshe and Harry danced their way through 59 years of marriage, four children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and the large, extended O''Connor family.

Eleanor is survived by her four daughters; Clare O''Connor of Faribault, Kathryn (Jim) Gramse of Faribault, Shaune (T.Sean) Burke of Winona and Kerry O''Connor Hood of Isle

of Palms, SC, one sister and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents, one sister and three brothers.

Eleanor O''Connor, age 93, of Faribault, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Milestone Memory Care in Faribault.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault, with Fr. Kevin Finnegan, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Tuesday at 12:05 p.m., meeting at assembly area one.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Memorials may be directed to the Faribault Area Hospice in memory of Eleanor.
