Elaine Kathleen Scholer

ELAINE KATHLEEN SCHOLER, age 80, of Waterville passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Benedictine Health Care Center in Minneapolis. 

Born on August 17, 1943 in New Ulm, Elaine was the daughter of Elwyn and Borghild (Aukrust) Sperl. She graduated from Waterville-Elysian High School with the class of 1961. She worked various jobs throughout her career. Elaine worked for Carlson Craft as an operator on the paste machine for over fifteen years until her retirement. On April 1, 1962, she was united in marriage to Robert Scholer at Waterville Methodist Church. 

Elaine enjoyed gardening and bird watching, especially cardinals. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends. She always went out of her way to cook or bake when hosting everyone. She was a loving mom and grandma who will be dearly missed.  

Elaine is survived by her children, Annette (John) Brown of Faribault, Daniel (Jodi) Scholer of Waterville, Tonia Bettermann of Owatonna; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Steve (Pam) Sperl of Waterville, Chuck (Angie) Sperl of Mankato, Cindy (Scott) Barrick of Chandler, AZ, and Sue (Calvin) Prehn of Waterville.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Scholer; parents, Elwyn and Borghild Sperl; sister, Fern Peterson; and grandson, Joseph Nusbaum.  

A celebration of Elaine’s life will take place at a later date.
