Elaine Verona Malling

ELAINE VERONA (BRANDMIRE) MALLING, age 84, of Waseca passed away, Wednesday, June 13, 2024 at Colony Court Assisted Living.

Born on March 8, 1940 in Janesville, Elaine was the daughter of Albert and Verona (Pieper) Brandmire. She attended and graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville. She furthered her education at Concordia College in St. Paul, receiving a certification in education. She was united in marriage to Loren Alvin Malling on September 2, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.

Elaine worked as a teacher for two years before staying home to raise her children when they were young. She returned to work as a secretary for the Waseca Schools and Vocational Center. She then worked for Waseca County in the court services, auditor’s and court administrator’s offices. She volunteered briefly for the schools to help children read, but her time was cut short due to COVID. Elaine has been an election judge since her retirement. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing, knitting, crocheting, and traveling with her son. She was a member of Trinty Lutheran Church in Wilton Township.

Elaine is survived by her children, Heidi (Becky) Malling of Sebeka, Tim (Laurey) Malling of Paynesville; grandchildren, Amelia, Erik, Maggie, Noah, Levi; siblings, Yvonne Priebe of Waseca, Myrna (Gordon) Hurttgam of St. Cloud, Marietta (Robert) Hildebrandt of Waconia, Karen Zimmerman of Waseca; and many other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Malling; parents, Albert and Verona Brandmire; brothers, Wayne Brandmire, Albert Brandmire, Charles Brandmire; and nephew, Scott Brandmire. 

Visitation for Elaine will be from 5 – 9 PM on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township, Waseca County. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
