Elaine M. Jones 86 of Waseca, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Church of Sacred Heart in Waseca with Fr. Leif as celebrant. A private interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato, Minnesota. Elaine was born August 22, 1931 to Anthony and Esther (Pieper) Rieder in Sioux City, IA. Later they moved to Mankato where she graduated from Our Lady Of Good Council in 1949. After graduation, she worked at the National Citizen Bank of Mankato as a bank teller.
On April 28, 1954, Elaine was united in marriage to Dale Jones of Mankato. They moved to Camp Chaffee, Fort Smith, Arkansas where Dale was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1956 and they returned to their home in rural Waseca.
Elaine was a devoted mother to her five children, a great friend to many, exceptional cook, and an avid reader. Elaine loved to have friends and family visit with her. She was the face of First National Bank of Waseca for over 30 years as head receptionist and bank teller. She joyfully greeted the patrons with a smile. She was a parishioner of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a member of the Sacred Heart Bible Study, and a member of the Waseca Library Book Club.
Elaine is survived by her children, Lynn (Richard) Verlinde of Slayton, Brian (Tara) Jones of Owatonna, Cindy Jones of Columbia Heights, Kent (Terrie) Jones of New Prague, and Scott (Marlette) Jones of Waseca, along with ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
