Edward McGuire October 13, 1929 - September 7, 2008

Edward "Eddie" F. McGuire, age 78 of Madison Lake, died on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Fr. Robert Schneider and Fr. Syl Brown officiating. Interment will be in the St. Matthews Cemetery, Vernon Center. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service at All Saints. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home of Janesville is handling arrangements. Edward Francis was born on October 13, 1929 in Mankato, to William E. and Mary E. (Lawerence) McGuire. He attended Lake Crystal country school. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1948 and was discharged in 1952. Edward was united in marriage to Mary Louise Jones on May 24, 1952 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal. Eddie and Mary farmed in the Lake Crystal and Madison Lake areas their entire married life. He was a hired hand for many farmers in the St. Clair and Madison Lake areas. Eddie worked various seasonal jobs including Ramy Seed Co in Mankato, Mishek''s in Waseca, and delivered anhydrous ammonia for GTA in Madison Lake and Crystal Valley Co-op. After retiring Eddie volunteered his time to be a driver for Vine in Mankato. He was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church and Madison Lake American Legion Post 269. He is survived by his wife Mary of Mankato; four daughters, Debra (Craig) Schmahl of Eagle Lake, Diane Ytuarte of Waseca, Cynthia (David) Blaschko of St. Peter and Susan (David) Beard of Hager City WI; by 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two brothers, William (Mary Jane) McGuire of Mankato, and Paul McGuire of Gaylord, MN; sister, Margaret (Clarence) Schulze of Mankato; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Douglas E. McGuire on November 21, 1998, and Richard J. McGuire in infancy on August 7, 1960; two daughters, Patricia A. McGuire on May 7, 1966, and Linda C. in infancy on December 25, 1966; and son-in-law, Albert G. Ytuarte on January 23, 1988.
