EDWARD WILLIAM ATHERTON, age 75 of Elysian died on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at his home in Elysian.
Born on March 10, 1943 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Edward and Dorothy (Hall) Atherton.  He graduated from Waseca High School and joined the U.S. Navy.  He met the only true love of his life, Margaret Ann Vicari in the summer of 1962 while stationed in Georgia.  They were married on March 28, 1963 and spent 55 years together.   Following his discharge from the Navy, they moved to Elysian and started their family, having one daughter, Leilani and one son, Victor.  Ed worked for Culligan for 45 years. 
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flowers, woodworking, Poker Club, going to garage sales, bonfires by the lake, watching the sunset, being with his family, and drinking Budweiser.  He was a member of the American Legion, Sportsmans Club, and the Elysian Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Elysian; two children, Leilani Maiden of Elysian and Victor and Amy Atherton of Elysian; two grandchildren, Anthony and Lindsey Maiden and Blake Atherton.   He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is respecting Eds wishes not to have a service.  If youd like to honor Ed, raise a glass to him.  We all know how he liked a good social gathering.  You will be missed…until we meet again.
