Edgar Felske, age 95, of Janesville, died on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Bridgewater at Janesville.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Interment will be in the Janesville Cemetery with military honors performed by the Waseca VFW and Waseca American Legion. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Edgar Ernest Felske was born on September 27, 1924, in Janesville to Otto and Emma (Boettcher) Felske. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. He attended school in Janesville through 8th grade. In 1945 Edgar enlisted into the United States Army where he honorably served his country in the 508 Military Police Battalion before being deployed to serve during the Korean Conflict. On November 30, 1951, Edgar was united in marriage to Dorothy Kreuger at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Together they lived in various communities throughout southern Minnesota while raising five children. Edgar and Dorothy shared 66 years of marriage when Dorothy passed away on June 12, 2018.
Edgar worked a variety of different jobs throughout his career, most notably as a carpenter before retiring to Janesville in 1989. In retirement he enjoyed working at Walmart in Waseca as a greeter. He was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a true outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, hunting and fishing. Edgar always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan as well as enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins. Edgar was always generous with his time, as he was always willing to help others. Blessed be his memory.
Edgar is survived by his children: Carol (Blaine) Brooks of Waseca, Betty (Tom) McShane of New Richland, Joyce (Lee) Schultz of Owatonna, Donald (Cathy Mahrholz) Felske of Florrisant, CO, and Allan (Sherrie) Felske of Rochester; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother-in-law: James Kreuger of Big Lake; sister-in-law, Darlette Strand of Waseca; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and one brother.
