Duane William Buker

DUANE WILLIAM BUKER, age 87 of Waseca, passed away on the evening of Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Owatonna hospital.

Born at the Waseca Memorial Hospital on January 27, 1935, Duane was the son of Edwin and Hulda (Rosenthal) Buker. He was baptized on February 10, 1935 by Rev. Soeldner at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. He attended District 24 country school in Waseca County before graduating from Waseca High School with the class of 1952. Duane was united in marriage to Arlene Scherger on September 26, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. He was a dairy and crop farmer throughout his life. He and his wife made their life together and raised their family on the Buker farm where his parents had lived. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder for twelve years and was on the Board of Stewardship and the Counting Committee. He enjoyed watching and playing all kinds of sports, playing cards, and dancing.

Duane is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Arlene of Waseca; two daughters, Berniece (Tod) Magnuson of Roseville, and Sharon (Richard) Goetz of Waseca; one son, Roger Buker of Waseca; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Buker of Waseca; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Loren, Gerald, and Iver Buker; and a foster sister, Marloe MaHaffey.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral Home in Waseca and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Bob Lund officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
