Duane L. Oftedahl, age 65 of Waseca, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 15th at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Marty Schaefer, Celebrant.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. There will be a 7:30 P.M. parish prayer service Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials in Duane''s memory are preferred to Sacred Heart Educational Endowment Fund, or the Waseca-LeSueur Regional Library.
Duane Louis was born on January 21, 1948 in Mankato, MN to Duane and Betty (Lueck) Oftedahl. Duane attended Southern School of Agriculture High School in Waseca MN and graduated with the class of 1966. He was united in marriage on August 14, 1971 to Kathleen Hansen at Saint Philip's Catholic Church in Litchfield MN. For the majority of their married life Duane and Kathy resided in Waseca. Duane was employed for over 20 years at PowerTeam in Owatonna. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Waseca, MN. Some of Duane's favorite things were: visiting with friends and family, playing cards, traveling, spending time with his grandsons, watching the Vikings, watching Vanna and Wheel of Fortune, and working in his yard. On February 9th God took stock in Heaven and found He was short on witty banter and card players. He summoned Duane to fulfill both of these needs.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Waseca; children, Kelly (Damyon) Andow of Winona, and Chad Oftedahl of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Cedric and Corbin Andow; mother, Betty (Sid) Spangenberg of Mankato; siblings, Dean (Ruth) Oftedahl of Pemberton, Danny (Karen) Oftedahl of Pemberton, Connie (Michael) McCullough of Rochester, Laurie Oftedahl of Pemberton, Kay (Dan) Ekenstedt of Mankato, and Alan (Mary) Spangenberg of LaGrangeville, NY; brother-in-law, Roger Davidson of Mankato; nieces and nephews
and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane, and sister, Georgia Davidson.
