DOUGLAS JOHN BRUENDER, age 73 of Waseca died on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna.
Born on September 25, 1948 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of Martin and Gertrude (Knapp) Bruender. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1967 and Mankato Technical College in 1970. Doug was united in marriage to Audrey Tesch on June 15, 1974 in Mankato. Doug was employed with DHIA as a milk tester for many years. He later worked as a custodian at JWP High School, Janesville Nursing Home and Mankato State University. Doug enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, watching TV, and visiting with the neighbors. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville and a former member of the Waldorf Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey of Waseca; five children, Angela (Timothy) Swanson of Faribault, Lori Bruender of Oelwein, IA, James Bruender of Waseca, Daniel (Breanna) Bruender of Rochester, and Jacob (Julia) Bruender of Rochester and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, George Bruender of Portland, OR, Larry (Margie) Bruender of Le Sueur, Vicky (Robert) Kimpton of Prior Lake, Dwayne (Betty) Bruender of Hebron, CT, and Mary (Paul) Willaert of Mankato; brothers-in-law, Clifford Tesch of New Richland and Curtis (Sara Roemhildt) of Waseca; sister-in-law, Diane (Bill) Radil of Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darold; and one sister-in-law, Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.
