Douglas Lee "Doug" Christiansen

DOUGLAS LEE “DOUG” CHRISTIANSEN, age, 80 of Waterville, died Friday, October 6, 2023, at his home.

He was born on May 10, 1943, in Fairmont, a son of the late Harvey and Florence (Berhow) Christiansen. He grew up in a resort in Atwater, and throughout his younger years worked for his father’s hardware store. He graduated from Atwater High School with the Class of 1961. In 1963 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he would serve his country until 1967. On December 17, 1965, he married Pat Kathman in Sacramento, California. Following his discharge from the marines he would go on to work many years in Construction, before taking a job in sales at Design Homes, where he worked up until his retirement.

Doug loved fishing, woodworking, coin collecting, Minnesota Twins Baseball, playing cards and games, but above all, spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife Pat; three children, Mark Christiansen of Waterville, Dawn Christiansen of St. Peter, and Teresa (Tim) VanRyn of Waterville; four grandchildren, Brittani (Josh) Barnett, Andy Bartelt, Tori VanRyn, and Tanna VanRyn; one great-grandchild, Owen Barnett; one sister, Marcia (Doug) Willard of Mission, Texas, and one brother, Greg Christiansen of California. He is preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, and his father-in-law.
