DOROTHY ROMA PRAHL, age 90 of Faribault, died during the early morning of Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault.
Dorothy was born in Waterville on June 3, 1933 to parents Albert and Bernice (Prehn) Meyers. She attended school in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School with the class of 1951. She was married to Richard LeRoy Prahl at the United Methodist Church in Waterville on January 14, 1956. Together they spent the majority of their life in Waterville where they raised their family. For many years, Dorothy was employed as a teacher’s aide for Waterville-Elysian Schools. During those years she was also in charge of the laundry for Waterville-Elysian various sports teams. Taking great pride ensuring the football uniforms were always white. Dorothy was an active long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville. She enjoyed crocheting, playing slots at the casino – particularly “Sun and Moon”, and following the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and all Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School sports. Together with Richard, she enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, being part of the Saktonka Sno-Cats Waterville Snowmobile Club, making Christmas wreaths for the Girl Scouts, selling oranges and grapefruit fresh from Florida, and being a “snowbird” in Arizona. Throughout life she made many lifelong friends in Waterville and Arizona.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Richard Prahl of Faribault; three children, Rod Prahl of Champlin, Rhonda (Fred) Hrdlicka of Pella, IA, and Roxanne (Jeremy) Bibeau of Coon Rapids; six grandchildren, Takara (John) Schomberg of Beresford, SD, Mika Hrdlicka of Pella, IA, Sierra (Brett) Renaud of Sully, IA, Dakotah Prahl of West Des Moines, IA, and Cheyenne Prahl of Mankato; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Victoria (Ronald) Kruesel of Owatonna. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; one son, Rick Prahl; one granddaughter, Kayli Hrdlicka; and three siblings, Marian Sophy, Norma Hansen, and Ralph Meyers.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
