Dorothy M. Emge July 19, 1928 - September 3, 2014

Dorothy M. Emge, age 86, of Faribault, MN, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Sunday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Dorothy Margaret was born on July 19, 1928 in Faribault to Albert and Margaret (Thomas) Degen. At a young age, Dorothy helped with childcare for many farm families, especially with newborns. She also worked at Shattuck Schools as a server and hostess. Dorothy married Sylvester Emge on September 2, 1948, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. She was a homemaker for her family and very involved in many organizations. She was a 4-H leader, and was a member of her neighborhood coffee group, Rice County Porkettes, Daughters of Isabella, and University of Minnesota Extension. Dorothy was a founding member of the Cedar Lake Homemakers over 50 years ago. She assisted Sylvester with many farm related organizations he belonged to, especially the Steele- Waseca Electric Co-Op, which took them on travels to many parts of the country. They also volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels together. Sylvester preceded her in death on March 14, 2009. Dorothy was a life-long member of the St. Lawrence and Divine Mercy Catholic Church, volunteering for funeral lunches and prayer chain. She was an advocate for reading and in her giving nature was a donor for eye research. Most of all, Dorothy treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Anna Marie (Ronald) Rosival of Lonsdale, MN, and Diane (Tom) Iacarella of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Gamble of Arizona, Marge Duchene of Faribault, Donald Krenske of Faribault,

Marcella (Dave) Matthies of Faribault, Alice (Daryl) Bosacker of Kilkenny, and William Krenske of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Emge; parents, Albert Degen and Margaret (Thomas) Degen Krenske; brother, Michael Krenske; and numerous in-laws.
