DOROTHY KENYON, age 99, of Mankato, died on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Dorothy Marie (Ehmke) Kenyon was born on March 23, 1925, to John and Rose (Sautter) Ehmke in Lexington Township, Le Sueur County. She graduated from McKinley High School with the class of 1943. On September 15, 1945, Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Kenyon. They made their home and raised their children in rural Eagle Lake. Together they shared 69 years of marriage before Ken’s passing on March 7, 2015. Dorothy donated her time as a foster grandparent for Head Start in Mankato and also volunteered at the Janesville Nursing Home. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and cross sticking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed browsing antique stores with her husband. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake where she was active with the Alter Society and Christian Mothers.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Myra (Gail) Cowdin of Janesville, Richard Kenyon of Litchfield Park, AZ, Jan Kenyon-Yenish of Mendota Heights, Marla (Mark) Westphal of Janesville, Jenise (James) Seewald of Waseca, Dean (Michelle) Kenyon of Garland, TX, and Keith (Laurie) Kenyon of Rollingstone, MN; 18 grandchildren: Dawn Jesse, Brent Cowdin, Corey (Lynnette) Cowdin, Sara (Mike) Meihak, Paul (Ann) Yenish, Theresa (Dave) Fuhs, Elizabeth (Eric) Curry, Jason (Amy) Westphal, Clint Westphal, Dylan (Samantha) Westphal, Tenia (Chad) Wolff, Alicia Seewald, Lucas Seewald, Nicole Kenyon, Cameron Kenyon, Jonah (Alexandra) Kenyon, Jacob (fiancé, Linnae Johansson) Kenyon, and Caleb (Ellie) Kenyon; 27 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Rita Kenyon; great grandson in infancy, Adam Yenish; sister, Ethel (Edward) Leadstrom; half-sister, Rosemary Mader; half-brother, Robert Spikers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake with Fr. Robert Schneider as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Madison Lake. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at New Perspective where Dorothy had resided for the past 13 years, and to the staff at Pathstone Living, and Ecumen Hospice for the care their mother received.
