Doris M. Labs
DORIS M. LABS, age 81 of Waterville, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 9th, 2016 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester during a surgery for an abdominal aneurysm repair.
Doris was born August 25, 1934, in Garden City, MN to Thorvald and Volborg (Larsen) Hansen. She attended school in Garden City, Duluth, and Waterville, graduating from Waterville in 1952 (YEA!). On June 12, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to Marty Labs at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Waterville. Throughout her life, she was a home maker, mother and nurse, working for Elm Homes for 20 years, retiring in 2006. She enjoyed NASCAR, (Jeff Gordons biggest fan), crossword puzzles, embroidery, reading, collecting rocks, her chickens and her grand-children. She was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, and more recently was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown.
She is survived by her children, Terry Ohlerking of Northfield MN, Karen (Jim) Smithberg of Columbus, ND, Marty (Kathy) Labs of Cedar Rapids, IA, Steven (Cheryl) Labs of Montgomery, MN, Linda Hill of Kilkenny, MN, Sheila Fromm of Brownsville, MN, and Don Labs of Waterville MN; siblings, Ray (Kate) Hansen, Betty (Fred) Schaal; 27 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marty; her parents; two sisters Viola Wetzel and Donna Sorensen; and two brothers Curtis A. Hansen and Hartley Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM on Friday, May 13th, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church - North Morristown, with Rev. Juan Palm officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours before the service at the church.
