Dora Ruth Matz, age 91, of Waseca died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday afternoon, March 24, 2018, at Colony Court Senior Living in Waseca.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. David Baumgarn officiating. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are preferred to Colony Court Activities or Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Dora Ruth (Dorothy) was born on March 20, 1927, in Waldorf to Herman and Matilda (Koch) Fennert. She attended Waldorf Area Schools and Graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1945. While at Central she was active in band and enjoyed playing the drums. In 1950, she was united in marriage to Stanley Matz and they resided in Waseca. She was an active member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She was employed at Herters and went on to work at Brown Printing where she retired in 1993.
She loved to travel with friends and her grandchildren. She made a variety of crocheted and knitted crafts and gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed word-find puzzles, reading and watching game shows. She was a avid Vikings and Twins fan. Her greatest love was watching her grandkids and great grandkids participate in sports and music. She prided herself on never missing a band or choir concert usually sitting in the front row. She was their biggest fan. Dora resided at Colony Court for the past six years and was grateful to the caring and loving staff who were so kind to her. She will be fondly remembered for her strong will and strength of character. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children: Chuck Matz of Sedalia, MO, Karen Berg of Owatonna, and Connie (David) Krause of Holmen, WI; grandchildren: Michele (Al) Tischer of Austin, Marcie (Nathan) Ross of Waseca, Matthew (Kristina) Berg of Waseca, Mitchell Berg of Norfolk VA, Scott (Melissa) Matz, Craig (Sheri) Matz both of Sedalia, MO; step grandchildren: Wendy (Jake) Wagner and Mike Krause both of Baker, MT; 19 great grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley on June 29, 1955; infant son; two sisters; three brothers; daughter-in-law, Mary; and a step great grandson.
