Donna Mae Pittman

DONNA M. PITTMAN, age 92 of Waterville, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, October 20, 2023 at Traditions of Montgomery.

Donna was born in Faribault on March 6, 1931, to parents Albert and Celia (Hermel) Stoering.  She attended country school before graduating from Waterville High School at the age of 16.  She worked for the telephone company in Waterville for several years before her marriage to James Pittman in the fall of 1949.  They made their life together and raised their family in Waterville.  Donna worked at the state hospital in Faribault until its closure, at which point she began working at Berg’s Drug Store in Waterville.  In 1978, Donna and James purchased the Waterville Off-Sale Store and operated that until selling the business to the LaFrance family.  Donna continued to work as a clerk at the store until she was well into her eighties.  James passed away in 1985, and in 2003 Donna was married to Robert Miller in Waterville.  He passed away in October 2020.  Donna was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, and she enjoyed traveling, gardening, baking, cooking, cleaning her house, and spending time with her family.

Donna is survived by four children, Connie (Roger) VanEman of Waterville, Bruce (Nancy) Pittman of Waterville, Mark (Nancy) Pittman of Waterville, and Lori Carlson of Hastings; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Norma Byron of Waterville; two nieces; and one nephew.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; both of her husbands; one son, Brad Pittman; and one son-in-law, Scott Carlson.
