Donna Mae Harguth

DONNA MAE (CLAYTON) HARGUTH, age 89 of Waseca died on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Foxdale in Waseca.

Born on December 31, 1934 in Waseca, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Philo and Bernice (Sommers) Clayton. She attended school in Waseca where she was the Homecoming Queen and graduated with the class of 1952. Donna met George Harguth while at a dance and they were united in marriage on October 27, 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Donna worked at Mishek’s for a time and then devoted her time as a farm wife and mother raising her five children. She later worked as a lunch lady in the area schools and handed out samples at Hy-Vee.

Donna was a dedicated volunteer with the Hospital Auxiliary and Lake Shore Inn. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active with the church circle, Catholic Daughters, serving funeral luncheons, and helped start the annual Fall Festival. She loved to quilt, giving away many of her creations and also enjoyed gardening and baking.

She is survived by her husband, George Harguth of Waseca; children, Jeff (Heather) Harguth of Bovey, Todd (Brenda) Harguth of Waseca, Mark (Charley) Harguth of Kasota, Dave (Kathy) Harguth of Waseca, and Cindy (Craig) Keck of Waseca; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and another on the way. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Char Harguth of Waseca, Paul (Karen) Harguth of Mankato, Richard Harguth of Yuma, AZ, and Sue Clayton of Janesville; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russ Clayton; and brothers-in-law, Joe, James, and Robert.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4-7 PM with a 3:30 PM rosary at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.
