DONALD FRANK SOUTHWICK, age 81, of Janesville, died on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Whispering Creek in Janesville.
Born on August 2, 1939, in rural Mapleton to Frank and Gertrude (Wilson) Southwick. Don attended Pemberton High School and graduated with the class of 1958. On February 11, 1961, Don was united in marriage to Anita Bartz at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Don worked in road construction for BMI Construction, drove truck for Shurson Trucking in New Richland, as a diesel mechanic for Northstar Concrete in Mankato and lastly as an over the road truck driver. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Don was a true outdoorsman, hunting deer and fox, and just being amongst nature. He especially enjoyed his time outdoors while living on Reeds Lake. He enjoyed watching the Vikings, cutting wood and especially spending time with his dogs. Don was a devoted and loving husband and father, and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anita of Janesville; children: Donnie (Denise) of Waterville, Dawn (Lane) Holthus of Janesville and Mike (Kari) of Janesville; grandchildren: Brandi (Keen) Roeker, Brooke (Phil) Nienow, Shelby (Kyle) Ketchmark, Chris Holthus, Miranda, Kara, Marissa, and Kourtney Southwick; eight great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Franny) Southwick of Pine City; sister-in-law, Darlene Southwick of Mora; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Danny Holthus; brother, Bill Southwick; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Elmer and Edna (Kath) Bartz
Graveside Service will be at 1:30 PM on Sunday, January 3, 2020 at Alma City Cemetery.
