DIXIE LAVONNE STRAND, age 84 of Waseca died on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Born on June 6, 1931 in Janesville, Minnesota she was the daughter of Walter and Esther (Wobschall) Schafer.  Dixie attended Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville before graduating from Janesville High School.  She married Donald C. Strand on October 15, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.  She was a wonderful mother and loving grandmother.  Dixie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries in Waseca.   She enjoyed reading and watching baseball and football, especially when her grandchildren were playing.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Chuck) Decker of Canon City, CO; one son, Douglas Strand of Waseca; four grandchildren, Cory, Adam, Nathan, and Alicia; and 10 great grandchildren.   She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, June Schafer of Janesville and Violet Schafer of New Richland.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Ronald; and five brothers, Bud, Jerry, Jim, Chuck and Bob.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 4-7 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca.  Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
