Diane Rose Johnson

DIANE ROSE JOHNSON, age 83 of Lakeville, died in the early morning of Sunday, July 14, 2024 at Fairview Medical Center in Burnsville following a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Diane was born in Waterville on October 23, 1940 to parents Ambrose and Ida (Fessel) Grundhoffer. She went to school in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School. She was married to Michael Coy for a time, although they later divorced. On October 19th, 1974 Diane was married to Randy Johnson on the front steps of a Pastor’s home in South Dakota. Together they made their home in Bloomington for many years and Diane worked in the electrical department at ThermoKing until her retirement. It was after both Randy and Diane retired that they purchased a camper and spent much of their time back in Waterville. They also enjoyed spending winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Over the years Diane enjoyed knitting, bowling, and golfing, and was never known to be far from a lake. In the summer she and Randy enjoyed travelling to Longville, MN to be near the water there. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and Eagle’s Club in both Bloomington and Lake Havasu City.

Diane is survived by her husband, Randy Johnson of Lakeville; four children, Dean Coy of Bloomington, Rodney Coy of Kilkenny, Pat Coy of Le Center, and Tiffany (Aaron) Loesch of Lakeville; two step-children, Trish (Mark) Anderson of St. Michael, and Todd Johnson of Lake City; six grandchildren, Aeschilde, Greta, Arianna, Alexandra, Maddie, and Amanda; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Kathy King officiating. The family will greet friends and family for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
