DENNIS DANIEL DELASKE SR., age 78, of Waterville, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on April 22, 1945, in Faribault, he was the son of Leo and Evelyn (Studer) Delaske. Dennis began his education at country school before attending Waterville Public School. At a young age he began working for various farmers in the area. For a short time, he also worked at H & S Logging and for Myron Miller’s Bridge Crew before beginning a 30 year career with Larson’s Soft Water. Leading up to his formal retirement he began driving bus for Le Sueur County Development Services. Although Dennis worked various jobs throughout his life, his true passion was splitting wood with his dog by his side. He supplied local residents, businesses, Kamp Dels as well as many other campgrounds with firewood for the past 47 years.
In 1963, Dennis was united in marriage to Julie Bishop, together they had four children and later divorced. On May 18, 1991, Dennis was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Bruns at St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church and together they had one daughter. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in the woods, bird watching, splitting wood, and vacationing at Kilworry’s Resort. He always looked forward to hosting family fish frys and spending the evenings around the campfire. Dennis cherished time spent with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church in rural Waterville.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nancy of Waterville; children: Lisa (Gary) Roemhildt of Waterville, Dennis Jr. (Kelly) of Waterville, John (Dawn) of Faribault, Shane (Jessica) of Rosemount and Ashley (Jared) Kuball of Waterville; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Robert (Jackie), Marilyn (Stan) Grubish, Linda (Donnie) Fessel, Suzie (Fred) Tolzman, and Keith all of Waterville; sister-in-law, Janice Delaske of Waseca; brothers-in-law: Jeff (Mary Jane) Bruns and Pat (Carrie) Bruns, both of Waterville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Delaske; and great grandson, Ethan Delaske.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church in rural Waterville, with Pastor John Pasche officiating. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
