DELSIE LOUISE (DEHN) KOPLEN, age 92, of Janesville, received the call to Heaven to see the Lord and her husband on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Whispering Creek in Janesville.
Born on September 2, 1930, to Arthur and Emelia (Roemhildt) Dehn in Waterville. Delsie was baptized into her faith, schooled, and confirmed at St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church in rural Elysian. She lived in Mankato and worked at Tent and Awning until she met Glenn Koplen at a VFW dance. They enjoyed riding together on Glenn’s Harley and soon married. On December 2, 1951, Delsie and Glenn were united in marriage at St. Peter “Bell” Church in rural Elysian. Together they made their home near Alma City and worked side by side on the family farm. Delsie enjoyed helping with field work, plowing the fields on her Minneapolis Moline Model U with no cab as Delsie had to wear every coat she owned. Delsie and Glenn shared 66 years of marriage before Glenn passed away on March 28, 2018.
Delsie loved to cook, bake, play cards, and fish. She was known for her cookies, apple pie, bread, and buns. In her early years she enjoyed going to dances and helping her boys with their schoolwork. Traveling was something Delsie enjoyed later in life, but she always looked forward to coming home to the farm which she missed dearly when her and Glenn had to move to town. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, always making sure they were well fed and could send them home with leftovers. Delsie was a long-time member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City.
Delsie is survived by her sons: Jeffery (Susan) of Owatonna, and Clark (Brenda) of Janesville; grandchildren: Curtis, David and Kelly; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepsisters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Roger Rockhoff, officiating. Interment will follow in Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
