Delores Bernita Wilmes

DELORES BERNITA WILMES died peacefully surrounded by her family at Whispering Creek Nursing Home in Janesville on June 8, 2024 at the age of 90.

Delores was born in LeRay Township, Blue Earth County, on October 8, 1933 to Rudolph and Clara (DeVlaeminck) Linde.  She graduated from Janesville High School with the class of 1951.  On August 2, 1955, Delores was married to Stanley Wilmes at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.  As a young woman she worked for several years at Bausch and Lomb Optical in Mankato, and later at Carlson Craft and seasonally at Bird’s Eye Foods in Waseca, but the vocation she was passionate about in this life was that of a homemaker and loving, dedicated farm wife.  She enjoyed caring for her lawn and home, playing cards, and visiting the casino.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in St Clair for more than 50 years, and she will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Delores is survived by her husband Stanley Wilmes of Janesville; her children, Steven (Cheryle) Wilmes of St. Clair, Janelle (Jim) Prochaska of Mankato, and Kristine (Carl) Brown of Walker; three siblings, Barb Fischer of Minnesota Lake, Bev Froehlich of Janesville, and Karen Linde of Janesville; and a sister-in-law, Pat Linde of St. Clair. She was also proud of her five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; a brother, Eugene Linde; and a grandson, Eric Wilmes.

 Delores’s family would like to thank the staff at Whispering Creek Nursing home and at St Croix Hospice for their help and support.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Adrenoleukodystrophy Association (ALD).

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
