Delora Helen (Beese) Kanne was born on September 7th, 1922 at her family homestead in Deerfield Township to Herbert and Ella Beese. She was the youngest of three children, Donald, Dorothy and Delora. Using a weekly correspondence piano course, Delora taught herself how to play the piano her dad bought with egg money. From then on, she played for weddings and funerals and was a church organist for over 60 years. Delora graduated from Medford High School in 1940. She met Kennard Kanne through youth fellowship at Blooming Grove Immanuel, the church with two steeples. They took the train to Chicago and were married on October 16th,1943 by Kennards cousin Reverend Cecil Johnson. Delora and Kennard lived across from Trowbridge Park in Waseca for over 50 years, where they raised four children, Karen, Korrinne, Kevin, and Kendra, and hosted the annual Fourth of July Picnic. Delora was an avid reader, letter writer, concert goer, cookie baker, and traveller. She walked 3 miles a day, played pinochle and pfeffer, and loved Scrabble. She was a hard worker who never spent the day in her pajamas. She worked at Taylors General Store in Morristown as a teenager, Coast to Coast in her 40s, and most memorably at Charlies Hardware until she was 80 years old. Even after she left the hardware store, she still had dreams about it.
Delora is survived by daughters Korrinne Kanne and Kendra Kahnke; daughter-in-law Vicki Kanne; son-in-law Bob Kolas; sister-in-law Eunice Gasner; Grandchildren Brent, Roy, Craig (Libby), and Sam (Emily) Kahnke; Kathleen and Kenneth Kanne; Great-grandchildren Ian and Camryn Kahnke and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Preceded in death by husband Kennard Kanne, son Kevin Kanne, daughter Karen Kolas and son-in-law, David Kahnke.
