DELLA MAE SANDERS, age 87, of Mankato, formerly of Elysian died peacefully on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.
Della was born on December 22, 1932 in Mankato to Lloyd and Ruth (Johnson) Foster. She began her education at Perry Foster School District 133 in Madison Lake and later graduated from Mankato High School. On September 19, 1959, Della was united in marriage to Claude Sanders at Eagle Lake United Methodist Church. Together they had four children. Although they were later divorced, they maintained a lasting friendship.
Della worked for 23 years as a nurse’s aid at the Waterville Care Center. She was a faithful member of the Elysian United Methodist Church. Della was also a member of TOPS. Above all else, family was everything to Della. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild, who always put a smile on her face. She will be dearly missed.
Survived by her children: Larry (Rubing) Sanders of Yuma, CO, Karen Sanders of Mankato, and Ryan (Christina) Sanders of Madison Lake; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; one nephew, Daniel (Jeanette) Foster.
Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Darlene Doyle; brothers: Loren (Linda) Foster and Roy Foster; and her former husband Claude Sanders.
A public visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Eagle Lake Cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will be limiting the visitation to 10 individuals at any given time in the funeral home. We also encourage the public to practice social distancing guidelines throughout the visitation and graveside services.
