Delaine Joan Alvira Scholljegerdes

DELAINE JOAN ALVIRA SCHOLLJEGERDES, age 94 of Waseca died on Friday morning October 7, 2022, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.

Born on January 1, 1928, in Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Arthur and Dea Christine (Johnson) Johnson. She attended Waseca High School, graduating in 1947. On April 2, 1948, Delaine married Richard Scholljegerdes at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Otisco. Together they lived and farmed in rural Waseca County. Delaine enjoyed China painting, gardening, and sewing. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waseca and the National Farmers Organization where she served as secretary. She was also the coordinator for TeleCare and was a member of the World Organization of China Painters. Delaine also played organ at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Otisco.

She is survived by seven children, Marcedes Hayunga of Waseca, Douglas (Marlis) Scholljegerdes of Waseca, John (Patricia) Scholljegerdes of Waterville, Annie (John) Hertlein of Meriden, KS, Anita Preuss of Claremont, Rebecca Bruder of Waseca, and Sheila Wolters of Barnum; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Scholljegerdes; infant daughter, Cynthia Deann; granddaughter, Tricia Scholljegerdes; parents, Arthur and Dea Christine Johnson; and siblings, Roger and Maurice Johnson and Marcella Hansen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
