Dean Hawes

Dean Hawes, 72, of Janesville, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Lake Shore Inn of Waseca.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Starkson & Steffel Funeral and Cremation Services ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca. Visitation will be held 4:00pm 8:00pm Friday, May 5 at the Starkson & Steffel Funeral and Cremation Services~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca and one hour prior to the service.

Dean was born April 20, 1945 to Morley and Edna (Johnson) Hawes in Madelia.

He graduated from Madelia High in 1963, and joined the National Guard.

On November 21, 1969 he married Beverly Brase at the Methodist Church in Madelia, and together raised their two children.

Dean was proud of his 29 years working at the frozen bakery in Madelia, and worked as a valet captain at Mystic Lake Casino for 8 years.

He enjoyed out door activities his entire life. Dean loved fishing, playing softball and mowing the lawn. He was a supportive and proud grandfather and dedicated father and husband. He supported his Minnesota sports teams, and loved his family. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beverly; children, Cari Goytia of Edinburg TX and James (Patricia) Hawes of Waseca; grandchildren, Tosha, Anthony (Jessica), Cipriano, Allyson, Christopher (JoJo), Jonathan, Edgar, Amber, Mayte, Dakota and Angela; great-grandchildren, Tayleen, michael and Maylee; brother, Loren (Gwen) Hawes; with many other family and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delores Hawes.
