Dayton Dale Roesler

DAYTON DALE ROESLER, age 91, of Waseca died the morning of Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center in Waseca.

Born on October 11, 1933 in Waseca, he was the son of Ezra and Ellen (Priebe) Roesler. He attended Waseca High School and graduated with the class of 1951. Following his education, Dayton enlisted in the US Army. He was stationed in Germany where he attended diesel mechanic school. He was married to Ferne M. Johnson on May 17, 1955 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. They were married in the city hall in the morning and a second ceremony was held in the army chapel in the afternoon. They returned to Waseca in 1956. 

Dayton spent his career farming on his family’s farm, Brookside Farm, just south of Waseca. He loved video equipment and TVs and turned his hobby into a side business where he would be a contracted videographer for weddings, parades and other events. He was a forward thinker of conservative energy, an avid bird watcher, and a loyal Minnesota sports fan. Dayton and Ferne enjoyed traveling with their RV annually to Hart Ranch, South Dakota and Florida. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca prior to its closing. 

Dayton is survived by his two daughters, Jacki (Roger) Peterson of Mora, Denise (Bob) Hohrman of Eden Prairie; two sons, Brian (Lisa) Roesler of Mahtomedi, David (Jennifer) Roesler of Minneapolis; special daughter, Diane (Brian) Hanson of Grand Meadow; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and special friend, Marilyn Matson of Spring Valley.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ferne Roesler; parents, Ezra and Ellen Roesler; sister, Myra Luce; and brother, Calvin Roesler.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Third street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
