Dawn Marie Summer

DAWN MARIE SUMMER, age 53, of Waseca passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Mayo Health Systems – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Dawn was born on July 13, 1969 to William and Joy (Barber) Maxwell in Covina, California. She lived all through out California before moving to Minnesota. Dawn was joined in marriage to Brice Summer on March 25, 2005 in Waseca. Dawn spent her career as a CNA in Faribault and Waseca, a cashier at Casey’s, but most importantly, she was a mother. She was a loving and caring mother to her children, Christa, David, and Rebecca. She was extremely family oriented, being the person that everyone could depend on.

In her free time, Dawn enjoyed traveling. She spent a lot of her time traveling the states, sightseeing with her family, and camping on the weekends. She also enjoyed playing video games. Her family would always find her playing Pacman, Donkey Kong, and many other games. She was known for her love of dolphins, lighthouses, and butterflies. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Brice Summer; mother, Joyce Barber; brothers, Daniel Mendez, Ralph Mendez, James Maxwell, Vince Maxwell; sisters, Kim Wallace, Jessica Maxwell; children, Christa Moen, DC, Rebecca Olsen; grandchildren, Zada Olsen, Wyatt Olsen, Kiara Moen; ex-husband, David Ryan; and many more family members and loved ones.

Preceded in death by father, Bill Maxwell; daughter, Justice Summer; grandmother, Barbera Barber; grandfather, Leslie Barber; and many other loved ones.

A graveside service will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service are handling arrangements.
