David Garry Thompson

DAVID GARRY THOMPSON, age 74 of Shakopee, died on June 16, 2024 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee.

David was born in Owatonna on February 26, 1950 to Melvin and Loretta (Sleper) Thompson. He graduated from Kenyon High School. He was married to Nancy and together they had one son, Lucas, before they later divorced. David enjoyed fishing in his younger years, and when he wasn’t fishing, he was hunting. He liked tinkering and building, and often collected scrap metal. He liked to laugh and was always known to have a smile on his face. He loved being around his friends who would call him Clyde, and he loved movies and enjoyed watching his favorite westerns. 

David is survived by his son, Lucas Thompson of Waseca; siblings Wendell (Diane) Thompson, Dean Thompson, Tony Thompson, and Verna (Morris) Hildebrandt. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marcia Drew; and one sister-in-law, Susan Thompson.

A public visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. A closing prayer will begin at 7:00 p.m. Interment and graveside prayers will take place at the Vang Lutheran Cemetery near Dennison at a later date.
