David Edward Schroeder

DAVID EDWARD SCHROEDER, age 79 of Janesville, died on the evening of Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Whispering Creek in Janesville.

David was born in Mankato on June 24, 1945 to parents Raymond and Evelyn (Ziemke) Schroeder. As a young man he graduated from the Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca before graduating from the University of Minnesota in 1967. Also during that time he served his country as a member of the National Guard. David began his working years as an educator at Winona Technical School. He left that position in 1985 and began working full-time on his family’s farm. David was passionate about dairy farming and all it entailed. His fascination with bovine genetics and dairy operations filled both his working time and his “free” time. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.

David is survived by brother, Jon Schroeder; three nieces, Amy, Julie, and Sarah; many cousins and their families; and friend, Verlayne MacKay. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gary in infancy; sister-in-law, Shirley Schroeder; and several aunts and uncles.

A memorial service for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Smiths Mill Cemetery.
