David Kent Hruska

DAVID KENT HRUSKA, age 87, of Waterville passed away surrounded by family on the morning of Monday, March 17, 2025 at Whispering Creek in Janesville.

Born on August 31, 1937, in Faribault, Minnesota, David was the son of James and Ada (Stacke) Hruska. At the age of two, he was raised by his father and Dorothy (Gartemaker) Hruska. David graduated from Waterville High School with the class of 1955 and continued his education at Mankato Technical School, earning his degree in 1957.

David worked as a machinist throughout his life. His career took him first to Faribault for two years, then to Seattle, Washington, where he worked for Boeing. In 1964, he returned to Minnesota and worked in Minneapolis before marrying Linda Harding on June 12, 1965, in Owatonna. He later went back to Boeing until 1978, after which he worked at FMC in Fridley until 1998. David and Linda then moved to Waterville, where David worked at Bemis in Mankato until his retirement.

David had a passion for gardening, enjoying time spent pulling weeds, sleeping in the grass, and feeding the birds. He was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville and took great pride in his family and his faith.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Whispering Creek for their compassionate care during David's final days.

David is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years, Linda of Waterville; children, Tim (Patty) Hruska of Madison, WI, Dan Hruska of Waseca, Julie (Brad) Meister of Morristown, Andrew Hruska of Cypress, TX, Christina Holmes of Venice, FL; seven grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Hruska; birthmother, Ada Goodrich; brother, Tony Goodrich; son-in-law, Tommy Grubbs; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Hruska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.
