DAVID EDWARD MORSCHING, age 68 of Waterville, died on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
David was born in Mankato on May 15, 1954 to parents Willis Edward and Thelma Faye (Sutter) Morsching. He was baptized as a child at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church, and was later confirmed at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Billings, Montana. His family moved around the country throughout his young years and Dave always loved to visit the mountains out west. He attended school in Morristown and graduated with the class of 1973 before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam era and was honorably discharged in 1976. On August 26, 1978, Dave married Donna Rae Quast at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown. Over the years David was employed at 4 County, Brown Printing, and Quad Graphics. He retired in 2019. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville and the American Legion in Morristown. He was a big fan of John Wayne films and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
David is survived by his wife, Donna of Waterville; three daughters, Cara (Robert) Dickerson of Waseca, Samantha (Mike) Keeran of Waverly, IA, and Jenifer Morsching of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Alexander Dickerson, Grace Dickerson, Julia Keeran, William Dickerson, Cash Keeran, Kaison Keeran, and Reagan Keeran; siblings Mark Morsching of Jacksonville FL, Daniel Morsching of Waterville, Matthew (Gloria) Morsching of Waterville, Leah (Guy) Borst of Waterville, Nathan (Bridget) Morsching of Morristown, Timothy Morsching of Elysian, Steve (Kim Borst) Morsching of Madison Lake, Sarah (Kevin) Kuball of Morristown, and Shane (Jill Guerin-Bender) Morsching of Northfield. His loss will also be sorely felt by several aunts and uncles, Irene Sutter of Morristown, Audrey Hayes of Waseca, JoAnn (Delancy) Sutlief of Waseca, Janette (Robert) Larson of Waseca, Lyle (Nana) Sutter of Waterville, and Lynette Roesler of Waseca. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law Roland and Grace (Long) Quast; a brother-in-law, Robert Quast; and many aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service, and will continue for one hour before the service on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. dsofuneral.com
