Darrel Tramp, 76 year old resident of Waseca, died peacefully on Saturday evening, March 3, 2018 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif, as celebrant. Interment will be in Woodville Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the Mass at church on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Darrel N. Tramp was born on November 21, 1941 in Burbank, South Dakota to Alfons and Josephine (Mueller) Tramp. Darrel grew up on a farm outside of Elk Point, South Dakota where his family ran the Tramp Market, selling produce to the local community, it was here where Darrel learned his remarkable work ethic. Darrel was a member of his familys band as the drummer. In 1959, Darrel graduated from Elk Point High School where he was active in football, basketball, baseball and track and field. He held the state record in Shot Put for many years. In his free time he also worked nights at the local printing shop. Darrel continued his education at SDSU, majoring in Printing Management. He also competed as a student athlete for SDSU in Football and Track and Field.
On August 26, 1961, Darrel was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Joyce Girard, in Elk Point. Darrel and Joyce moved and raised their family in Mt. Morris, IL, where Darrel worked as an estimator for 18 years before moving to Waseca in 1980, where he began working for Brown Printing, retiring in 2008. Darrel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Darrel enjoyed the trips that he took with Joyce to Branson, MO and their yearly family trip to Alexandria. He loved sports, always attending his children and grandchildrens events, as well as being a huge Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed bird watching and caring for his flowers. Darrels family fondly remembers his famous Thanksgiving stuffing and Christmas fudge. Above all else, Darrel was a family man, being a strong role model for his children and grandchildren.
Darrel is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Joyce; his children: Greg (Janine), Brad, Kristy McClellan, and Doug (Shawn); his grandchildren: Derek (Nicole) Tramp, Meghan (Fiance Sam McCallister) Tramp, Kali (Fiance Sean Moynihan) McClellan, Ethan Tramp, MaKenna Tramp and Brooke Tramp; one great grandson, Byron Tramp; siblings: Dale (Eileen) Tramp and Betty (Robert) McKelvey; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Duane (Rosa) Tramp.
