Darlene Smith age 75, of Waseca formerly of Alma City, died peacefully on Thursday evening, October 26, 2017, at Colony Court in Waseca.
Funeral Service will be 2:30 PM on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City with Rev. Keith Bilitz officiating. Interment will follow in Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Darlene Marie Smith was born on April 24, 1942 in Waconia to Arthur and Lois (MacNabb) Wolter. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her faith in her youth all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. She attended Trinity Lutheran Elementary School and later graduated from Waconia High School in 1960. Following her education she began working at the Swedish Hospital in the Twin Cities. It was here where she met William Franklin and they were united in marriage in 1966. Together they were blessed with two children: Bill and Kimberly. Darlene was later united in marriage to David Smith in 1979 and together were blessed with one son, Jesse. They shared 28 years of marriage before David passed away in 2007.
Darlene and David made their home in Alma City where Darlene was always active with gardening and canning her produce. She spent many hours crocheting. Darlene enjoyed riding motorcycle and going camping. She was a faithful member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Alma City where she was involved with Ladies Aid. Darlene and David were very active in Farm America for many years. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, other family and friends. In 2008, Darlene decided to move into town and made her home at Colony Court for the past 9 years.

Darlene is survived by her three children: Bill Cutler of Blue Water, NM, Kimberly (Frank) Crisafulli of Burgaw, NC, and Jesse Smith of Fort Walton Beach, FL; four stepchildren: David Smith Jr. of Owatonna, Roger Smith of Council Bluffs, IA, John Smith of Coon Rapids and Maria Nordby of North Mankato; three grandchildren: Michael Cutler, Dominic and Megan Crisafulli; 5 step grandchildren; brothers: Dale (Elaine) Wolter of Bovey, MN and James Wolter of Waconia; sisters-in-law: Berna Bakken of Rochester, Mary (Doug) Deimer of Saratoga, CA; brothers-in-law: Jim (JoAnn) Mattson of Grand Marias, Rudy (Sandra) Smith of Kellogg, Gordon Smith of Rochester and Elvis (Suzy) Cole of Oronoco, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Paul Wolter.
