Darlene E. Schlie, age 72 of Smiths Mill, died on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at St. Mary''s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be in the Smiths Mill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon from 5 to 8 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Saturday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Darlene Esther was born on December 24, 1938 in Waseca, Minnesota to Herman and Esther (Schoenfeld) Gerdts. Darlene graduated from Janesville High School in 1957 and went on to attend Mankato Beauty School, graduating in 1959. From 1960-1962 Darlene worked in Waseca for Herters then E.F. Johnson Company. She was united marriage to Ervin Rubin Schlie on May 19, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Darlene and Ervin resided in Janesville where they raised their four children. They later moved to Smiths Mill. Darlene sold Avonpart-time for over 25 years. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, playing cards, and her accordion. She loved time spent with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Ervin of Smiths Mill; by her sons, Steven (Barbara) Schlie of Janesville, and Roger Schlie and his special friend Alison Denn of Janesville; her daughters, Wendy (Robert) Kamm of Kasota, and Muriel (Dennis) Urban of Amboy; six grandchildren, Kristopher Schnoor and fianc Jennifer Lines, Cody, Tabitha and Micheala Urban, Kaitlin Kamm, and Tyler Schlie; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law. Casketbearers are: David Schlie, Kristopher Schnoor, Kaitlin Kamm, Tabitha Urban, Cody Urban, Marcus Busse, Jason Fetchenhier, and Teresa Busse. Honorary bearers are: Michaela Urban, Tyler Schlie, and Stacie Ingle.
