Darlene Lynch
DARLENE MAE LYNCH, age 84 formerly of Waseca, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2017, at TowerLight Care Center in St. Louis Park.
Born on August 5, 1932 in Harmony, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Schuler) Griebenow. She attended Fillmore Central High School in Harmony and later Winona State University where she met her husband, Joseph. They were married on March 28, 1953 in Harmony and moved to Waseca in 1958 when Joe started teaching at the Southern School of Agriculture and later Waseca High School. After raising their two sons, David and Daniel, Darlene finished her degree at Mankato State University and began her career teaching first grade at Southside Elementary School in Waseca. She was passionate about reading and was a longtime member of the Minnesota Reading Association. She was also a member of the Waseca Chorale for many years and loved singing solos. Darlene was well known among family and friends for her famous apple pies. She enjoyed spending summers at the family lake home on Bay Lake near Deerwood, MN. She was a longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca.
She is survived by two sons, David (Sue) Lynch of Edina and Daniel (Edwina) Lynch of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Andrew (David) and Sarah (Daniel); brother, Ronald (Janet) of Downey, CA and sister, Joyce of Austin, TX; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joseph.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
Memorials are preferred to Faith United Methodist Church.
