Darlene Hoban
DARLENE M. HOBAN, age 88 of Waterville, died on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at her daughters home in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Born in St. Paul on December 26, 1926, Darlene was the daughter of Edward and Irene (Corcoran) Courtney. She attended school in Waterville and following her graduation, attended Faribault Technical College. Darlene was married to Gerald Hoban on June 22, 1948 in Waterville. Throughout the years, she was employed at the Faribault State School and Brown Printing, in addition to owning and operating the popcorn stand on Watervilles Main Street for nearly fifty years. Most recently she could be found making doughnuts at the Caseys convenience store in Waterville. Darlene was a very nurturing person who loved to care for others and knew everyone by name. She often volunteered with hospice and with the local nursing home, and was very involved with various bible studies, prayer chains, and singing groups. She was a former member of the Red Hats, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Order of the Eastern Star, and was an active member of Harvest Time Church in Faribault.
Darlene is survived by four daughters, Corinne Talley of Owatonna, Renee Buker of Waseca, Carmen Wessels of Northfield, and Rochelle (Cordell) DeBoer of Rock Rapids, IA; one sister, Carollea Gilomen of Waterville; ten grandchildren, John Talley and his significant other Linda Whitney of Owatonna, Angela (Jay) Forcelle of Owatonna, Gwendolyn (Chad) Chicos of Waseca, Amanda Buker and her significant other, Chucky Sodeman of Waseca, Tiffany (Mitch) Sharpe of St. Louis Park, Tyson Wessels of Springfield, SD, Tanya Wessels of St. Louis Park, Tim (Emily) DeBoer of Baltic, SD, Nate DeBoer of Dallas, TX, and Alyssa DeBoer and her significant other, Brian Popkes of Sioux Falls, SD; and nine great grandchildren, Arianna and Jace Forcelle, Eve Talley, Machanzie, Kaylee, and Allison Chicos, Ella and Hadley Sharpe, and Paisley DeBoer; and three beloved grand-dogs. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; one sister, Amy Clark; and two sons-in-law, Michael Talley and Steven Buker.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Harvest Time Church in Faribault with Rev. Peter Kuriger officiating. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
